Aflatoxin Analysis
Aflatoxin testing is one of the most critical safety parameters in animal feed analysis. Aflatoxins are toxic mycotoxins produced mainly by fungi Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus, which commonly contaminate feed raw materials such as maize, groundnut cake, cottonseed cake, rice bran, and other oilseeds during improper harvesting, storage, or processing conditions. Even at very low concentrations, aflatoxins pose serious health risks to animals and can lead to significant economic losses, making routine aflatoxin testing essential for feed safety and regulatory compliance.

Aflatoxin analysis is commonly carried out using immunological or chromatographic techniques. Rapid screening methods such as ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) are widely used in feed testing laboratories for routine analysis due to their sensitivity and speed. Results are generally expressed in parts per billion (ppb).
